On "Don't Say Gay" Laws
The narrow fellows in the House
Of sundry Southern states
Have mandated that public schools
Reflect some nasty hates.
But voters can dispose of this
By mustering some clout,
Connecting as a mighty broom
To sweep the garbage out.
On "Don't Say Gay" Laws is part of the poem series Felicitations by Felicia Nimue Ackerman. Ackerman is a professor of philosophy at Brown University and has had over 200 poems published in a wide range of places. We are lucky to get to have a few of them published right here at Options Magazine.
