Fulfillment
My parents had hoped for a girl and a boy,
And their hope stayed fulfilled, they could see,
When I stopped being Nora and turned into Roy
And Sebastian became Mary Lee.
Fulfillment is part of the poem series Felicitations by Felicia Nimue Ackerman. Ackerman is a professor of philosophy at Brown University and has had over 200 poems published in a wide range of places. We are lucky to get to have a few of them published right here at Options Magazine.
