Morehouse College, an all-male,
150-year-old, historically black school
in Atlanta, will open its enrollment
to trans men, as reported in The NY
Times in mid-April. Once admitted,
students are expected to continue to
self-identify as men throughout their
matriculation. If they do not, they
will be asked to leave. Morehouse is
the second all-male college to adopt
this policy. The first was St. John's
University in Collegeville, MN.
Morehouse announced its
new plan a day after the U.S.
Military implemented its policy for
transgender troops. They are allowed
to enlist, but only if they present
as the gender to which they were
assigned at birth. They are also not
allowed to transition while they are
in the military.
