Don’t Leave Us Out in the Cold

For nearly three years, the RI Pride Center at 180 Allens Avenue in Providence has provided a warm and friendly meeting space for community organizations as well as the dozens of Pride volunteers who meet to plan and organize Pride events.  Each month The Imperial Court, Options Newsmagazine, AIDS Care Ocean State HIV Testing and other community groups hold meetings and other activities that provide resources and services.

However, to ensure heat and electricity is kept on at the Center during the winter months, RI Pride has launched its 3rd Annual Winter Warmth Campaign.  A donation of $20, $50, $100 or whatever you can afford will ensure that warmth continues through the cold months ahead. We are beginning to explore how we may expand our resources, staffing and services to the community and will hope to announce some new initiatives in the new year. We need your help urgently!  Make your tax-deductible donation on line at or mail it to RI Pride P.O. Box 1082, Providence, RI 02901.

We offer sincere thanks to the outgoing board members who have worked diligently with and for us: Mike King, Casey Thomas, Frank Blais, and Rebecca Barrett.

Pride Planning Retreat

What does the RI Pride Committee do? How are they able to do it and why? And how can I get involved? What exciting things are planned for next year? All these questions will be answered at a special planning retreat on Saturday, January 15 at the Met School – Media and Performing Arts Center, 325 Public Street, Providence. This meeting will provide an opportunity for you learn how Pride is able to produce and create all its year-round programs and events, and enable you to share your ideas. It also gives you an opportunity to meet and engage with organizers and volunteers who have been working over the years with the organization, as well as new individuals who are just flexing their creative wings in the community. The session will begin at 9:30 a.m. and continue until early afternoon. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. There is no fee, but you must register to attend. Please visit and click on the “Reservation” button.
